The Open Network for Digital Commerce (𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐂) is a government initiative designed to level the playing field in India’s e-commerce space, especially for small retailers. Unlike traditional e-commerce models like the Inventory Model, where companies sell products at a markup, and the Marketplace Model, which connects buyers and sellers but can lead to deep discounting, ONDC aims to protect small businesses from these pressures. ONDC focuses on three key principles: 1. Discoverability: Products listed on any platform are visible across all ONDC-compliant platforms, expanding reach for smaller sellers. 2. Interoperability: Buyers can choose delivery services from different platforms, promoting flexible logistics. 3. Price Comparison: Consumers can easily compare prices across platforms, ensuring they get the best deal.
