What do you think guys? Reliance could have funded this guy's fee and gained huge goodwill and PR. But instead they proceeded with legal action. The possible reasoning for this would be that it might become a common way to make money similar to Cybersquatting. Did they do the right thing? What would you do if faced with a similar situation?

Pretty sure even if he applied to Cambridge, they would be made aware of this and reject his application and then Jio can say that we were willing to pay for it but then he only couldn't get accepted then all agreement is null and void

Honestly, I see why Reliance went the legal route. If they gave in and paid this guy’s fees, it would open the floodgates for others to use similar tactics for financial gain. You can’t just reward someone who skirts around trademarks, even if it was unintentional

This whole thing reeks of entitlement. Buying a domain doesn’t mean you're entitled to get paid off when a big company wants it. Reliance acted predictably. If anything, he should have known the risks when he bought it. There are no free lunches here.

Reliance is just flexing their corporate muscles. This guy didn't really infringe on anything, and £93k isn't going to hurt a company like Reliance. They missed a golden opportunity to gain goodwill and set an example. Instead, they're coming across as bullies. I think people will sympathize with this guy, not the giant corporation
