This is the most powerful man in tech. He shut down a $2.9 Billion company with just one review. His 20-minute video on their new car sent the company into bankruptcy. In February 2024, a popular tech YouTuber, Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), dropped a review of the Fisker Ocean, an electric SUV that had everyone talking. With its eco-friendly features and cool design, it was set to make waves in the EV market. It all started when Brownlee decided to grab a used Ocean car. He noticed a few things that felt incomplete—like there was no way to see how much energy the solar roof had actually captured. And then there were some odd design quirks, like random blank buttons that left him confused. In his review, He highlighted several issues, especially around performance and build quality. That really stuck with viewers and potential buyers. With over 19 Million subscribers, the effect was devastating. Soon after the review, their stock prices plummeted. Fisker filed for bankruptcy.
