The festival contributes 2.58% to West Bengal's GDP, thereby showing the amount of economic activity that takes place during the festival. The initial outgo happening at the beginning of Durga Puja sets off a chain reaction and boosts business turnover, creates jobs, increases household incomes, and enhances government revenues.
