Hey everyone I need some advice actually I m trying to run an app in logistics sector which help truckers to get load. Currently app is in building phase.. I have almost a year of Experience in running an transport brokerage From few days ago I met someone who is in industry from 15 years and definitely he has much better insights then me and also he has great connection in market he is asking for 25% and he will give all connections and also help me in onboarding truckers also he is ready to work with me but we both are from diffrent city.. also he has a buisness there and he is not Currently ready to leave that but agrees to left after the platform grows. but there is an issue his education background. please give me suggestions that I have to take it or leave it. you can consider his value that if: I go with a team of 3 person and grow our connection then it will take a year to reach there also consider that I have to raise funds so it can be a problem or not .

don’t let his education background hold you back if he can bring value to the table. Ulitmately, is 25% of a 10cr company more or. 25% of a 1000cr company?

After getting 25%, he will have no risk. He has to guide a little and introduce you to people who are in that industry. He will join after the platform grows. This is a mentorship fee and 25% is too much. He has his business and he will keep focused on his and he will be joining yours if 25% of your platform will earn more than his current business. He may be useful but first make the terms in your favour.

SImple, don't do it. Anytime you have a question in your mind about whether or not you should get into business with someone, even getting that question in your mind is enough to jsut say nope and walk away.

Teaming up with someone experienced can really speed things up, especially with connections but 25% is a lot for someone who will not be handson involved in the business.

Firstly you guys are already entering late in this industry personally i knows 10+ apps that's are doing too good in this industry and many apps failed because of less orders at initial stages , cash burn issues etc even few apps has already lot's of Funding to provide great offer's to customers and truck drivers and that's the reason they can easily operating on 0% commission model's. As you said that you're giving 25% equity to someone who knows many things about this industry and helps you in buildings app , connections etc but not ready to work with you full time right ? even he is expecting to grow first then leave own business and work full time on this project ? according to me he is just doing betting on this project and if he is ready to invest money also then this deal is not a bad until he is investing time also at the end of the day you need to hold 60% stake of your company for making any decisions single handedly
