nice idea what the approach of classes it's live or pre-recorded. It plays a critical role.if it's pre-recorded school can do themselves. If it's live classes. you have to convince techies. I also have a similar idea it's not programming. Generally average schools will hire teachers who are not qualified.Due to this lack of quality education. so for that there are many experienced teachers who are good in their subjects. We approach them on summer Holidays and make videos topic wise for each class and we sell them to schools in a subscription model. and we can sell directly to students also. and for doubt clarifications we make teachers and students to connect with minimal charges so teachers can earn. we make courses with multi language and with multiple teachers based on students rating they can purchase further.

I am signing up for this. Much needed. If executed well this will hit billions.

what if the school does not have an existing Comp Lab ?

Big schools will never support you on this, and for them the price is also very negligible, they might not care about your offerings. Better would be to run free or discounted pilots at government schools initially. Prove value of your offering by conducting hackathons at multiple levels. Build a story around your product (you chose the story). 350-500 could be your price per student. Make it a little exclusive based on simple merit based mental mathematics, logic, and reasoning Test. And if we talk about the syllabus, lit in your time to craft it well, and by that I mean, teach them how to code for sure, but keep showing them the magic moments of this tech world. Use the extra curricular approach for telling them the already successful approaches, people, ideas, their beginnings, new upcoming technologies, and most importantly shift their attitude from job seeking to solving problems using these technologies.

Here people are saying lot of things..I am giving you some real insight because I am in same market and I have already visited lot of schools.. 1.govt schools don’t want to take it very easily 2.There are lot of big mncs like capgemini,Congnizent provide coding class from their CSR departments to govt schools students. 3.CBSC & ICSE boards are ok but there are some NGOs who are doing same.. You may get some space but competition will be there..I am not demotivating you but you need some great usps and hard works

You can inquire with the Kerala government. They are looking to start coding classes in all government schools from 7th or 8th std onwards

idk if u know about freecodecamp.org site check them out they have a crisp and ultra learning way of teaching coding this will help u guys I guess. and good initiative and I would say give some problem solving courses too

Your idea is good but it's only work for top school who have computer lab not for those school doesn't have computer.

Your idea is great. Assuming you gonna start in onr city covering limited area. I would suggest you think it as a outsourced service to schools and ask your price. Let school decide what they want to charge to the students. Go for convents or big names, especially schools which focus on quality rather than quantity. My wife use to teach Robotics in this model to some top schools in Mumbai. The institute she use to work for suppose to charge 25x to the schools of what she use to earn. She knows the entire model and especially tiniest cost associated in the process which I can guess you haven’t thought of yet. If you wish to discuss more you can ping me on LinkedIn.

being in Edtech in my entire career Incan say that CAC will be higher compared to the fees you are charging and most of the students and parents at this time won't be showing interest in this as outcome oriented programs are much needed right now. lot of drawbacks that can be worked upon

So we already did this at Sharpener. Its not scalable but it is slightly profitable. Of course you can be the exception. You will have to increase you AOV to make it scalable and at Rs. 500, it breaks

The concept of teaching coding to school students at an affordable price could work well, as coding is becoming increasingly essential in education and we are still being taught basic C and C++

But what if school started to teach coding by themselves because it's not so difficult.... and also schools like the litera valley , DPS or other reputed schools will never agree on this and once the CBSE add the coding in their syllabus it will be quite tough for you to even survive because your USP is not to prepare the students for jobs
