Blinkit, Zepto etc work in India, because humaare desh mei gareeb bohot hain 🙏🙏 We are an easy-to-exploit market where people are so desperate for work that they readily accept exploitative gig economy jobs, racing against the clock to deliver groceries for a pittance. This is why quick commerce is surging in India, despite failing in most nations - All about economic desperation. .. While most developed nations dismissed 10-minute deliveries as impractical and unsustainable, India embraced it with open arms. Why? Because millions of Indians are trapped in a cycle of poverty and unemployment, leaving them with little choice for jobs to feed their families. .. Quick commerce preys on this vulnerability 📛📛 It's a race to the bottom, where companies profit from the desperation of the masses to take back home some money in the night, to buy food and medicine. While we celebrate billion-dollar sales and manifold higher valuations, delivery workers struggle to make ends meet, risking their lives on overcrowded roads for a few rupees. That's the harsh truth we know, but don't talk about. .. The likes of me, the ones in the top 5% of the country (~7-8cr people), benefit in the form of seductive convenience we get in the hyper-dense and traffic-ridden cities we live in. And thus, the demand exists, and the business makes sense financially. But it's a Pyrrhic victory built on the backs of the marginalized. And, India needs to evolve as an economy that creates MEANINGFUL jobs, not one that thrives on the desperation of the poor. .. Please know that these are just some midnight thoughts I penned on Qcom. So please ignore if you think this means nonsense. But, I personally could not find rational reasons to discredit the thoughts. Thus, penned them together to see if others also see it this way. Hence, please do share your thoughts down :)
