In today's time if you only know how to do one thing then you will continue to do that gadha majdoori till your company implements AI to take over that dept. Better to be skilled in various depts.

Today i would say knowing many things would help more than knowing one thing. So imo, you are on the right track Read a book called "Happy Sexy Millionaire". It got a separate chapter regarding skill staking (basically what you are doing)
