Every business is profitable if managed properly. And when it comes to smaller industries (as you mentioned) We must consider the fact that most of the population in India is lower income group, so such businesses have a very vast market to play. But keep in mind who are your competitors because here the game is all about bulk and not about margins. (You might even get as low margin as 0.5% sometimes).
