Many indian brands have tried and has failed terribly. The reason I would say is definitely, they were all trying to sell the product as a 'cheap' alternative. A phone in the modern day, more than a utility has also become a pride kind of thing. Also, these brands focus less about the looks and after sale services, be it providing updates or service centres. And, also if a new player is coming up, then people will definitely have the trust issue, to avoid that, we should definitely add a popular head in the core team, like 'nothing' gained that initial popularity, just because it was run by Carl pei, we all know he's an enthusiast at his job and a good marketer as well. That's just my pov..
