Many indian brands have tried and has failed terribly. The reason I would say is definitely, they were all trying to sell the product as a 'cheap' alternative. A phone in the modern day, more than a utility has also become a pride kind of thing. Also, these brands focus less about the looks and after sale services, be it providing updates or service centres.
