I partially agree with this. In most cases, a community does not transition to another platform. For example Bluelearn failed the moment they tried to shift their community from discord to their own app. Any networking or social media play has to be built on-app from day 1 or else the transition doesn't really happen. One way communication or usecase apps might still be able to do this (Inshorts) and even transactional models can do this for example taking orders on a whatsapp group.
