Sometimes saving yourself $3000 can cost you QUARTER A MILLION DOLLARS. A perfect example of one of our client. So, we have this AI company based out in the US as our client. In its initial stages, they consulted us for building them an IP strategy & helping them out for the same. Since they were planning big by expanding into China, we built a strategy for them where we suggested them to file for a trademark in the China as the first step through three steps (confidential). Why? Bcs China follows "first to file" trademark rule unlike USA & India. Them: We are currently just thinking of expanding and have no sure plans to expand as of now. This will cost us some extra money and we are not open to spend today. We shall be doing it in 6 months or a year. 3 months into the business, their product took off, copied in China under the same name & registered the trademark in China. Today, after a month long negotiation, we finally help them acquire the Chinese copy company for $250,000.
