More than purely marketing, I’d think this is a way for them to push users or rather foster them to use WhatsApp for a different usecase.  Especially By featuring the popular "Modern Family" cast, the company is trying to appeal to a broader, more younger audience towards the group chat feature and create a positive association with the brand. :)
