For entry-level roles, most companies look for 0-2 years of experience specifically with Rust. However, prior experience with C/C++, systems programming, or other low-level languages is highly valued. For mid-level and senior Rust roles, 3-5 years of professional experience with Rust is generally the minimum requirement. Extensive open source contributions can sometimes make up for less industry experience. Rust + C/C++ for building core system libraries, kernels, drivers Rust + WASM/JavaScript for building cross-platform applications Rust + Python/Ruby for developer tooling, automation, CLIs Rust + OpenGL/Vulkan for graphics, game engines Rust + Substrate/Parity for blockchain development Rust + Docker/Kubernetes for cloud infrastructure projects.
