I really want expertise and mentorship so I go with 2nd

I think If it was about who I wanna be, it'd be Kunal Shah, because, not just the ones he has mentioned he has put in money in some of the mostly cash cows

The real value, especially at the angel/seed stage, comes from investors who took a factbased conviction in your specific vision and market. Those are the folks who will actually do somethn to open doors, make introductions, and give some advice when you hit obstacles. So 2.

Personally, if I was fundraising, I'd likely try to get the best of both worlds - take money from some spray and pray investors for their capital, while also bringing on at least one strategic angel who has been through the types of challenges my specific startup will face and can roll up their sleeves to help.

The focused approach of someone like Tanmay Bhat investing in their area of specialization means the founder gets valuable domain knowledge and mentorship. However, it probably means raising smaller rounds from a more limited pool of investors.

Type one would be my type, dont want much interference.

For me, I think I would err on the side of the focused "type 2" investors, even if it means raising a smaller round. Having seasoned operators who have been in the trenches and can provide tactical guidance seems invaluable, especially when you're just starting out. The capital is obviously critical too. But we've all seen startups get millions from VCs only to flameout because they lacked real mentorship. I'd gladly trade a bigger bank account for hands-on support from someone who has been there before.
