The image below was clicked last week in front of Toit, Indiranagar, Bangalore. My heart breaks every time I see a tree getting chopped off. I cannot help but feel partially responsible for this loss, as my desire for fast travel, modern amenities and urban conveniences contributes to the destruction of our environment. We crave shopping malls, movie theatres, swimming pools, and brewpubs, but at what cost? The alarming rise in deforestation and loss of habitats for countless wildlife species is the unfortunate consequence of our actions. This experience has made me reflect on the choices that we make every day and their impact on the environment. We need to strike a balance between modernization and environmental preservation. We must take steps towards implementing sustainable solutions that will allow us to enjoy the pleasures of urban life without harming the natural beauty that surrounds us. Why there's no immediate consequence of this :(
It's disheartening to see the detrimental effects of urbanization and modern lifestyle choices on our planet. Our forests, vital for biodiversity and climate regulation, are being rapidly depleted. Perhaps it's time to reconsider the path we're on. Our ancestors lived in harmony with nature, without the technologies that now seem to accelerate our destruction. Perhaps there's wisdom in revisiting their ways and embracing a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle. It's a challenging shift, but one that might just save our planet.
It's not just in the cities. I live around villages, mostly in my travel I watch the agricultural lands, the rapid urbanization is also happening around these villages. agricultural lands are being converted to commercial spaces or real-estate lands. Once Andhra Pradesh used to be called rice bowl of india, it's lost its status slowly. Problem is people are not realising this is a problem.
One reason can be that since the impact of cutting trees is not immediate, we tend to ignore it. More awareness to kids in school might be helpful.

China is doing vertical greenery to tackle this. A lot of concrete buildings are designed to support greenery hence improving air quality. If there’s no space on ground, space can be made vertically.
This is because there's no immediate consequence to these actions. Most people need to be incentivised to be sustainable.
It is high time that we rethink our priorities and work towards a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future for our cities. Let us join hands to advocate for responsible urban development and take action to preserve our precious green spaces and natural habitats.
