This completely sidesteps the massive political willpower required to drive this kind of ambitious, rapid decarbonization on a global coordinated scale. The IMF can model economic benefits all they want, but we're still struggling just to get some nations to remain in the Paris Agreement and meet basic existing commitments. Everything has to go perfectly to reach net zero by 2050.
