If you are into category creation, then this model will not work. If you have an idea which can be monetised right from day 1, thats the best that it can get. But generally most of the startups werent built this way. They had to create a category by luring customers into it (acquisition), work on retaining these customers by providing awesome experiences and maybe discounts (retention) and once a category has been created then monetise the product. Even UPI payments had this cycle and are still not in a position to monetise.
