As far as my experience says ! It doesn't matter if you pay them or not in the start, but help them grow , learn new stuffs & make the part of startup family . They'll work x2 happily, if they have the security that , as a entrepreneur you respect there time, suggestions & thought process ..

Interns should get paid based on the time they spend in the work, skill and most importantly which can meet his cost for working. For suppose if he is working from home consider wifi, laptop charges, time he spend or if he is working from office include travel and food expenditure to him. If you have 100 person to do that pay 100 per hour and match the ratio with price.

More exposure, and allowances.

Role & Learning matter then ultimately he/she will become more efficient but every intern should be treated well, pay doesn't matter, should more focused on learning.

Pay the interns whatever minimum amount is possible it keeps their morale up

This year(2nd year btech) I will be having my first internship program and I think money isn't important but learnings and experiences I will get from the company is more important But even if company provides i guess it should 3k-10k depending on their performance

Now All the learning materiald for every field is available on internet. So every person applying for internship shud have basic skills. And they must be paid for what they work on

Money is not a matter when interns really tune with your company vision or goal..

Valuing contributions AND more importantly giving the opportunities to create an impact. Intern se coffee le aaoge toh kaise world change karega full time hone pe. Excel hi bharega na.

Being an Intern, I would prefer getting paid but above that I would love to get a good office and corporate experience.
