There are several factors at play here 1. The UI/ UX of spotify is far superior as compared to gaana or wynk. 2. The Indian mentality of everything foreign is superior (major factor) 3. Use of UGC to keep the users interacted ( the dopamone rush to wait for spotify rap in year end)

I still don't understand why. YouTube premium is so much better. Gives you ad free youtube + youtube music.

I think it’s because of the wide range, freeminum model, and easy to use interface.

People ready to listen to ads. For free music.

I think mentality plays a very big role here. People don't want to keep 2 YouTube apps on their phone so YouTube Premium got cancelled. Spotify has better UI and features. And their marketing is also quite good. Meanwhile Gaana did their marketing but were unable to attract customers. Whereas Jio Saavan attracted some people but Spotify won the game world wide

I think ui is the biggest differentiator here + the perception of the foreign brands in India minds is already pretty high

Firstly they are giving good money to artist and they are expanding and introducing new features like podcast and many more ... The intresting thing is that they belongs from foreign country so they have wide range of English and k pop songs data even some Indian girls are made for koren and some gen z thinks that if he listens English songs then he look cool and you know Indian people always believe that foreign products are best in features and promises

What I think is Spotify is somewhat similar to luxury thing coz even though other platforms provide better features than it in cheaper prices Spotify makes sales, I am not saying it's luxury thing but some what like that Whenever we hear about music first thing come is Spotify not yt music also Spotify gives much payments to artists so initially artists started promoting Spotify. These reasons may not be the major reason but yea probably reasons

Spotify discovery is unmatched. New and budding artists. Overall premium look and feel of the app. Spotify entered last in India. It cracked the game like a smooth criminal

UI & Sense of premiumship

It's the simple fact that people share playlists on Spotify follow each other and can make blend it also brought the wrap feature every year.

Spotify gives amazing user recommendations and playlist

Spotify recommendation is one of the best I have come across. Only one that comes close is youtube.
