Local barber shops is more like a social hub where people discuss politics and local issues and updates. And with using application after getting charged it might get expensive to run. You have professional saloons for that.

I had the same idea and have done a lot reserch on it, would love to discuss with u regarding the same 💇

Instead you can build a Saas for barber shops and unbranded good salons, for managing staff, billing, inventory of utilities, CRM tools, sending festive messages to clients, etc

If the motive is to save time and not get hassled then why should I not ask a professional barber to come at my home through Urban Clap and cut my hair at my home. Even more convenient, right? This seems like a forced app which might not have a real need.

I cut my hair once a month maybe and I’m absolutely okay with going to the barber shop and waiting for 10 minutes instead of pre-booking on an app.

Sorry to say but it has zero PMF.

GTM for this will be hard to execute. Imagine after your app is ready and let’s say you will launch it in a certain area in Bangalore, you will have to onboard 50+ plus salons and then start acquiring users who’d use it. This needs huge amounts of money to be built large.

Beauticians in these shops in my area do take appointments and keep slots for repeat customers through phonecalls. Idk if this is really needed. Infact people usually choose 1 barber for a long time. I have heard Men specially are super loyal haha.

Most salons operate on first come first serve basis. Waiting and booking will be very hard to form a habit about for everyone.

I’m sure this is only needed in top-tier cities where in the junta is tech savvy and is trying to save time everywhere. The adoption of this in tier2/3 cities both for customers and salons will be super low, hence not scalable and hence not VC investible.

How will you manage how long should the barber hold onto his seat and not place a customer who came offline if you are slightly late?

I had heard of a startup which used to show ads in barber shop mirrors and had raised money. No idea if it worked out but seemed very viable. This can be an extended product offering from your to your partner berber shops.

I don’t think you’ll be able to convince a lot of barber shops to become tech savvy and use your app for locking seats at specific time.

Be sure to include Salim Bhai barber shop playing bollywood songs on the small crt TV in the corner.

Good idea man! It’s a pain when you reach your barber shop and have to wait for 30 minutes until your time comes.
