Olee.space, a laser-based communication and photonics defense system, has secured $3 million in a seed funding round from Rockstud Capital and other global investors. The fresh funds will be allocated towards scaling production, advancing its quantum-secure communication protocols, and expanding its defense tech roadmap, Olee.space said in a press release. Co-founded in 2023 by James Solomon and Suman Hiremath, Olee.space is a photonics and defense technology company that builds next-generation systems in Free-Space Optical Communication (FSOC), quantum-encrypted networking, and directed energy weapons. Its advanced solutions include resilient systems for terrestrial, inter-satellite, and ground-to-space links, designed for low latency, maximum security, and optimized data throughput. As per the Pune-based startup, Free-Space Optical Communication (FSOC) uses low-powered infrared laser beams to deliver ultra-fast, secure data links across land, air, sea, and space. Olee.space’s DEW platform, which is under development for anti-drone/UAV and anti-satellite operations, is designed to deliver precision tracking, real-time targeting, and neutralization of aerial threats. “I have always been fascinated by how lasers function. Working with light gives me happiness and I am here to do as much justice to this domain as any of my able team members. What we do here is rewarding to the country, and would continue doing so,” said James Solomon, founder and CEO of Olee.

The platform is used in public transport, school buses, and commercial fleets, helping operators detect and respond to risks instantly. Cautio is currently active in 46 cities and has over 60 customers. It aims to make Indian roads safer by using predictive technology to reduce accident risks.

The proceeds will be used to accelerate the brand’s retail expansion, and its digital presence, and fuel R&D for new and distinctive jewellery collections. Co-founded by Adit and Aayush Bhansali, Firefly utilizes advanced technology to create lab-grown diamonds which offer the same physical, optical, and chemical characteristics as mined diamonds, but their production has a dramatically lower impact on the environment. It offers fine jewellery set in 14K and 18K gold. The brand has stores across 4 cities currently - Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad with a plan to expand to over 20 locations within the following two years. In the lab-grown diamond space, Firefly Diamonds will compete with a clutch of firms including COLUXE, Fiona Diamonds, Limelight Lab Grown Diamonds, and Jewelbox. Aditya Birla-backed GIVA also offers a lab-grown diamond jewellery line.

Snippets Space-tech startup Omspace raises $3 Mn in pre-seed round Omspace Rocket and Exploration, an Indian space-tech startup incubated at CrAdLE (Centre for Advancing & Launching Enterprises), has raised $3 million in a pre-seed funding round from a Family Office and an Angel Investor. The proceeds will be utilized to finalize and begin test launches of the Infinity One prototype, expand its research & development team, and hire specialized talent to strengthen manufacturing infrastructure and ground systems, Omspace said in a press release. Co-founded in 2020 by Ravindra Raj Binod Mistri, Maulik Mota, and Stutika Padamshali, Omspace's flagship innovation, Infinity One, aims to deliver payloads of approximately 350 kg to altitudes of up to 800 km. With an emphasis on fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness, the launch system seeks to offer a reliable launch solution for India’s growing space-tech sector. The Ahmedabad-based startup plans to improve access to space by developing reusable launch vehicles for small and nano satellites. It seeks to make space exploration more accessible for emerging markets. “This funding is a major milestone in our mission to democratize access to space from India. We are deeply thankful to CrAdLE and EDII for believing in our vision and enabling us with the resources, mentorship, and environment to take bold leaps,” said Mistry. Omspace claims that it has recently expanded its international presence through its UAE branch, OSRE FZC, with a first commercial launch planned for January 2028.

Skincare brand SkinInspired has raised Rs 12.25 crore (approximately $1.5 million) in its seed round led by Unilever Ventures. Dr Vaidya’s co-founder Arjun Vaidya also participated in the round. The proceeds will be allocated towards research and development initiatives, strategic marketing efforts, and strengthening the brand’s go-to-market strategy. Founded in 2022 by FMCG veteran Piyush Jain and dermatologist Dr. Prashant Agrawal, SkinInspired offers a curated range of assorted products based on skin types in four categories – face wash, face serum, sunscreen, and moisturizer. The brand has also introduced a refillable skincare line, featuring airless jars and pumps designed to preserve product efficacy and promote sustainability. According to market research, the skincare industry in India reached a size of $3 billion in 2023, with demand anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 14.6% over the forecast period.

Fresh From Farm, a B2B2C platform for fresh fruit demand, has raised $2 million in its pre-Series A round led by Ashish Kacholia, founder of Lucky Investments. Inflection Point Ventures also participates in the round. The proceeds will be used for team expansion, tech enhancement, and to introduce new product lines. Fresh From Farm has also provided a partial exit to early investors offering more than 400% returns. Its early investor IPV led Rs 3 crore seed round in the company in November 2022. Founded by Rohit Nagdewani, Fresh From Farm uses a proprietary tech interface to predict and create a demand-supply equilibrium to minimise wastage of fresh produce. Its falgship product F3 converts fruit vendors into mini-franchises and sources, grades and handles fruit for them allowing them to focus on only sales. Fresh From Farm claims to have an ARR of Rs 40 crore with an aim to touch Rs 100 crore by this calendar year end. Other notable startups in the same space include Vegrow and Ninjacart.
