Bamboo products maker Amwoodo raises $1M in funding from Zerodha-backed Rainmatter

Kolkata-based startup Amwoodo has secured $1 million in funding from Rainmatter, a venture fund backed by Zerodha. Founded in 2019, Amwoodo specializes in manufacturing sustainable bamboo products such as combs, toothbrushes, razors, slippers, and towels. The funding will be used for capital expenditures including upgrading machinery, upskilling artisans, and supporting expansion efforts. Amwoodo operates in both B2B and B2C sectors, with clients including major hospitality chains and consumer brands. The startup sources bamboo directly from farmers in the northeast and collaborates with artisans to refine products. Sales for the last financial year reached Rs 21.72 crore and are projected to reach around Rs 60 crore for the current year.
