Ambani's JioCinema announces new ad-free premium plan for Rs 29 a month

Mukesh Ambani's Viacom18-owned streaming platform, JioCinema, has slashed its subscription fees to challenge major global streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in the Indian market. Users can now access Hollywood movies and TV shows for just INR 1 (approximately $0.01) per day or INR 29 ($0.39) per month. The revamped subscription model includes a single-device plan and a family plan for four devices, both offering ad-free, 4K quality content in multiple languages. JioCinema also boasts partnerships with global studios like HBO and Warner Bros Discovery. Despite the price reduction, JioCinema will continue to offer free Indian Premier League (IPL) coverage and other content with ads. The aggressive pricing is expected to disrupt the streaming market and may prompt other providers to adjust their prices.
