AI can reliably detect emotions at par with psychotherapist: Study

According to a study conducted at the University of Basel, AI systems can accurately determine the emotional states of patients in video recordings, similar to a psychotherapist. The AI system analyzed video data from therapy sessions and achieved a remarkable level of agreement in assessing facial expressions compared to human therapists. The AI system also had the ability to detect even the most fleeting of emotions, providing increased sensitivity compared to human therapists. However, the researchers noted that therapy still primarily relies on human relationships.
