The Delhi Government has just approved something that will directly impact household budgets in a positive way. On 03 February 2026, the cabinet cleared the Free Gas Cylinder Scheme, and CM Rekha Gupta officially announced its implementation. The goal is simple: reduce the burden of LPG prices on low-income families during festivals. Under this scheme, eligible ration card holders will receive two free domestic LPG cylinders every year, one on Holi and one on Diwali. Instead of handing out cylinders, the government will transfer the full cylinder cost into bank accounts via DBT. Normal LPG consumers will receive ₹853, while PM Ujjwala beneficiaries will get ₹553, after subsidy adjustment. Even PNG users will receive an equivalent assistance amount. The scheme will begin from Holi 2026, and the Delhi Government has already allocated ₹242.77 crore for it.
