If you haven't generated revenue, stop calling yourself a CEO. Harsh? Maybe. True? Absolutely. Iโ€™ve lost count of how many founders I meet who introduce themselves with a big title but canโ€™t answer a simple question: โ€œSo, how much revenue have you made so far?โ€ That tiny pause right after the question says everything. The truth is, most people donโ€™t need the title. What they really want is the validation that comes with it. And I get it. Building something from zero feels lonely and uncertain, so slapping โ€œCEOโ€ on your LinkedIn bio feels like a shortcut to credibility. But hereโ€™s the uncomfortable moment where it hits you. This isnโ€™t about the title at all. Itโ€™s about the gap between who you say you are and what youโ€™ve actually built. If youโ€™re waking up every morning trying to figure out how to get your first customerโ€ฆ If youโ€™re Googling โ€œhow to price my productโ€ while sipping cold coffee at 3 p.mโ€ฆ If youโ€™re rewriting your landing page for the tenth time because something still feels offโ€ฆ You donโ€™t need the pressure of a title. You need the freedom to be in the messy middle without pretending youโ€™re at the top. And honestly, that phase is beautiful. Itโ€™s where every real CEO starts. So if you havenโ€™t made a rupee or a dollar yet, donโ€™t feel attacked. Feel seen. Youโ€™re not a hobbyist. Youโ€™re someone whoโ€™s still building the engine. Youโ€™re someone who hasnโ€™t taken off yet, but youโ€™re doing the work. Just donโ€™t hide behind a title. Earn it. Because the day your first customer pays you, that title will hit very differently.
