In India, wealth inequality is staggering — and yet most public attention goes elsewhere. Just look at the numbers: • Top 1% control ~40% of the nation’s wealth • Top 10% control ~70% of the wealth • Bottom 50% control only about 6.4% Half the population shares a slice so small it barely registers — and this gap keeps widening. But instead of discussing economic justice, fair wages, public services, or structural inequality, we’re constantly pulled into debates about religion, politics, caste, identity, language, nationalism, and everything else that keeps people divided. It’s wild how effectively wealth inequality gets overshadowed. People argue endlessly about temples, hijabs, caste pride, political personalities, left vs right… meanwhile a tiny percentage accumulates more and more power and resources. Imagine what could happen if even a fraction of that attention shifted to economic issues that actually shape people’s lives.
