There is a paradigm on the AI frontier that is explicitly untapped even in foundational research labs. Deep learning allows for serendipitous model discovery whereby irreducible problems are now accessible by systematic scaling and deployment of distributed agents. This structure is well suited for problems in India where public infrastructure overhaul is rampantly ongoing. I am interested in engaging in a public conversation with the startup ecosystem if we should build and deploy operations management systems that are more sophisticated than SOTA. Think along the lines of smart traffic lights, RL based railway schedulers, smart lane shifters on highways, air traffic control, economic microdata trackers (this one is a big bag in itself), etc. Deployment of IOT at this scale requires planning that admits no known framework for structured design, that is the challenge. But if done, this serves as the first layer towards truly high-tech cities.
