Get Luck Out of the Equation. Imagine you're preparing for an exam with 5 questions. The syllabus has 10 chapters. If you study 5 chapters: Your probability of getting all 5 questions from those chapters is 0.40% If you study 6 chapters: The probability jumps to 2.38% Study 7 chapters: 8.33% Study 8: 22.22% Study 9: 50.00% Study all 10 chapters: 100% Notice: When you've covered everything, luck has nothing to do with whether you get the questions right. You've made the exam deterministic. That's what I mean by getting luck out of the equation. Sure, life doesn't hand you a neat syllabus. But you can still put your life, career, and relationships under a microscope and improve so many variables that your chances of getting "unlucky" become practically zero. Most people stop at 5 chapters and pray. The ones who win study all 10. Winners don't leave room for luck to decide. They reduce the number of things luck can influence. In short, do so much work that "luck" ceases to exist.
