“Just because you feel like sht doesn’t mean you have to act like sht.” I read that somewhere years ago, and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. It’s what I tell myself on the days I don’t feel like showing up. See, people romanticize this whole “flow state” thing: “If I’m not in the zone, I can’t get good work done.” Truth is, that’s just another excuse dressed as self-awareness. When you’re not in the zone and you still show up, you might operate at 70, maybe 75% of your best. But if you let every bad mood decide your schedule, your progress stays locked at zero. And ZERO DOES NOT COMPOUND. The best founders I know don’t feel “motivated” every day; they’ve just trained themselves to move regardless of how they feel. Because emotion is temporary. Momentum isn’t. So the next time you’re not “feeling it,” remind yourself: You don’t need to feel like a machine to act like one.

Sometimes I really wonder why people act like this. At the start of a friendship, everything feels good — we talk, laugh, share things, and it feels real. But slowly, it changes. By the next semester, conversations fade, and by the third, it’s like I
