I’ve come to realize something very deeply in my journey. Having the right tech team is not just important for the launch of a business, but also for the day-to-day operations that follow. When the right team isn’t there, everything starts slipping. Timelines get delayed, internal coordination suffers, and the very foundation you’re trying to build feels shaky. And what makes it harder is when you’ve placed your trust in collaborators, but that trust starts to feel one-sided, almost as if it’s being taken for granted. That’s not fair, and it’s not right. But every experience is a teacher. Here are a few lessons I’ve taken from this that might help others: 1) Due diligence matters: don’t just go by words or promises, always check past track record and client experiences. 2) Contracts should be clear: outline deliverables, timelines, accountability, and communication channels right from the start. 3) Trust, but set boundaries: trust is important, but so are checkpoints and accountability measures. 4) Communication is the backbone: schedule regular syncs to avoid misalignment. 5) Plan for backups: never put all your eggs in one basket. Always keep a fallback option ready. The right tech team become an extension of your vision. And if you find yourself in a place where trust feels misplaced, don’t hesitate to pause, re-evaluate, and take steps that protect your business and your peace of mind. Every founder deserves a team that walks with them, not one that slows them down.
