When you copy someone else’s words, it always shows. I came across a post yesterday where someone shared a tweet almost word-for-word from Naval Ravikant. And Naval himself replied: “Clearly, you’re self-taught.” It was witty, sharp, and at the same time, a reminder of something every creator, founder, or professional in the public eye eventually learns, originality matters. Because here’s the thing: * Pattern disruption works once. * But when it’s recycled, it loses its power. * What people remember is the voice, not just the words. The internet is full of copy-paste wisdom. And yes, you might still get a few likes or retweets by repeating what someone else has already said. But you’ll never build trust, respect, or influence on borrowed credibility. True impact comes from speaking in your own voice, even if it’s imperfect, messy, or vulnerable. The raw edges are what make people lean in. So the next time you’re tempted to recycle someone else’s line, pause and ask: 👉 What do *I* actually think about this? 👉 What’s my lived version of this lesson? Because copying someone else might get you attention. But originality is what earns you trust.
