I agree to disagree with your statement. It’s not just to see who liked your posts so that you like their posts in return. We are not talking about the functionality based on relatives and friends circle perspective but in general use case. As per the user experience it plays a huge role than that and that’s for increasing the chances of platform engagement. Not to mention, there are plenty of user behaviour patterns surrounding it. Hence, it plays a crucial role. A like button is more than a like button my friend. 😉
