I remember when "cloud computing" was this mystical concept, now it's just boring infrastructure nobody thinks about. Same thing happened with mobile apps, social media, even email. AI will follow the same path - amazing until it's mundane. Already seeing this with ChatGPT becoming routine.

AI is nowhere near the disruptive power of electricity or the internet. Those technologies fundamentally changed how humans live and work. AI is mostly just pattern recognition and text generation with better marketing. The comparison to truly transformative technologies is premature and overblown.

This framework is oversimplified but directionally correct. Every transformative technology follows Gartner's hype cycle - peak of inflated expectations, trough of disillusionment, then plateau of productivity. We're probably at peak hype with AI right now. The real value comes when it becomes invisible infrastructure.
