Survival tricks in a startup: If you are someone who's managing a team well, “Favoritism” is the easiest accusation you may face at some point or the other, especially in a startup. But let’s be honest. Backing your most efficient employee is not being biased. It is simply a sign of good leadership. When you give bigger opportunities to the people who deliver consistently, some may call it favoritism. The reality is that it is a recognition of performance. Of course, not everyone will see it that way. At times, less efficient teammates may raise allegations even to the HR that can create unnecessary noise. This is where discipline as a manager matters. From my personal experience, I'd advise you to keep clear productivity metrics. Track proactive and reactive contributions. Document who did what, and how well they did it. Data protects you. Clarity protects your decisions. And in the end, your role is not to please everyone, which is the most important thing to survive and grow. It is to build a team where merit speaks louder than politics. #TheStartupManager

Being smart does not make you a manager. The ability to convince does. Especially in a startup, it is influence that determines who leads and who stays stuck taking orders. #Thestartupmanager

This is big! I don’t know how much substance is there in this accusation but what I am aware of is that, it is not easy to build such a complex product in a year or so. Given in India the data protection laws are weak, I do not foresee a strong rep
