Did you warn him before removing him? It’s a professional courtesy to warn and it has to be documented over email as a standard. If getting repeated, you can take action. Or if you have a policy in place for such consequences, you’re right to do so. But if these steps weren’t envolved, and you didn’t have a policy in place, technically he can’t be removed legally. Coming to the investment part, he’s entitled to have his investment back based on the evaluation. It doesn’t have to do anything about what you feel. I wonder what lead him to ghost you for a month though. :)
