How Not to Approach an Investor So I was recently approached by someone over WhatsApp asking for an funding—no business plan, no MVP, no traction—just an idea… in their mind. And this is not how things work. Ideas are cheap. Everyone has them. What matters is execution, clarity, and proof that you’ve done the work to bring that idea to life. If you're asking someone to invest their money, you need to show more than a dream—you need a plan. At the very least, come with a validated problem, a working prototype or MVP, and a go-to-market strategy. Investors don’t fund imagination. They fund vision backed by action, data, and commitment. Respect the process. build-fail-repeat If you haven’t risked your own time, energy, or money—don’t expect someone else to. If you wouldn’t buy into your own pitch, why should anyone else? Everyone has an idea which they think will go BOOM. It may.. but it definently won't if you are just dreaming. Check my previous posts on how to execute an Idea.
