The Hindi Imposition Debate: A Step Back for India’s Diversity India thrives on its linguistic mosaic 22 official languages and hundreds of dialects. Yet, only 43.6% of Indians speak Hindi natively, though about 57% know it. Imposing one language is problematic enough to spark political pushback and public division. This approach risks alienating non-Hindi states, stifling cultural expression and eroding the “unity in diversity” that fuels our innovation. Language should be a bridge, not a barrier. Proficiency in Hindi or English is practical, but respect for regional tongues is essential if we want inclusive growth, cultural preservation and national cohesion. P.S The very people causing this problem probably can’t wrap their heads around such mind churning concepts 😂.
