It is one of the ways. I dont see any North Indians learning Kannada of their own accord. Blore is doing a lot more to preserve culture. But its important to not let North Indians walk over, Hindi imposition is a huge thing. Imagine if a bunch of Kannadigas go to Delhi and tell people, Im gonna speak in Kannada and you have to answer. Obviously nobody is going to do that. So wherever you're going, respect the culture. Even if you try talking in Kannada, they will help you. But being arrogant and refusing to learn the language is not gonna be welcomed.
