𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗽𝘂 – 𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 is a startup initiative launched by Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta in Mangaluru. It is aligned with national programs like Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047 and guided by the manifesto "Nava Yuga Nava Patha". The initiative selects 10 startups annually from the region. Each startup goes through an 8-week sprint program that helps them ideate, build, test, and launch. The program offers seed funding, mentorship, access to markets, and connections to banks, incubators, and government schemes. It includes strong support for women entrepreneurs and aims to create local business opportunities to prevent brain drain. A TiE Mangaluru survey revealed that 92% of Mangaluru-origin professionals would return if suitable opportunities were available. The long-term target is to generate 50 successful startups over the next five years. The program also seeks to involve the global Mangaluru diaspora to support the local startup ecosystem. Alongside Bolpu, an agricultural initiative to plant 30,000 coffee saplings in areca-affected areas was also launched. This agricultural drive is supported by the Coffee Board, horticulture department, and local farmer training bodies. Johnson Tellis, CEO of Inunity, praised Bolpu for promoting community-rooted leadership. The launch event was held at Hotel Ocean Pearl in Mangaluru on July 12, 2025. Key guests included MLA Vedavyas Kamath, former minister Nagaraj Shetty, and other local dignitaries. The first cohort of 10 startups will be inducted shortly into the sprint program. The program is designed to boost entrepreneurship, agriculture, and ecosystem collaboration in the coastal Karnataka region.
