#Day3 Component Selection: After mapping out the MVP features and planning the architecture, it’s time for a hands-on step that makes or breaks a hardware project: selecting the right components. This part is both exciting and challenging you quickly discover that what looks simple on paper gets complex in the face of real-world constraints. My Component Selection Criteria - Cost: Every rupee counts! I compare different chips, sensors, and modules to strike the best balance of function and affordability. - Availability: It doesn’t matter how perfect a part is if you can’t get your hands on it (or if it takes months to ship). - Compatibility: Components need to play well together, both in hardware (voltage, footprint, interfaces) and software (libraries, drivers). - There are more criteria which I talk more about here :https://lnkd.in/gSTZXZGQ My BOM (Bill of Materials) Strategy I start with a simple spreadsheet or Notion template to list: Critical components (microcontrollers, radio modules, sensors) Alternative part numbers (just in case!) Estimated costs & preferred suppliers Next up: Schematic design and prototyping where those parts really come together!
