Air India has cut international widebody flights by 15% after the deadly Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12, 2025. The reduction affects Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft and will last until at least mid-July. The main reasons cited are mandatory safety inspections, ongoing geopolitical tensions (especially in the Middle East), night airspace curfews in some regions, and a cautious approach by engineering and flight crews. 26 out of 33 Dreamliners have cleared enhanced safety checks; the rest will be inspected soon. Similar safety checks are underway for the Boeing 777 fleet as a precaution. Passengers on affected flights can reschedule at no extra cost or get a full refund. These measures aim to ensure operational stability and passenger safety following the crash, which killed nearly all on board and dozens on the ground.
