How much return can you actually make from stock trading? Let’s be honest anyone who’s trading in the stock market or even thinking about getting into it has one big question in mind: How much return can I actually expect in a year through trading or investing? I can’t speak for everyone, but I can definitely share my own experience. I’ve been in the stock market since 2017, so this isn’t new to me. But if we’re talking specifically about my 2025 trading performance, I kicked things off on January 2nd, 2025. Since then, I’ve seen all kinds of days profits, losses, break-evens you know how it goes. Based on how things are going right now, if I continue trading in the same style, I should end up making around 14.24% return this year. Now obviously, this will vary for everyone depending on their capital and risk appetite. But if you were in my place and followed the same approach, you could calculate roughly what you might have made with your own capital. That 14.24% is my realistic expectation for now. If things go better in the coming months, I’ll aim higher. If not, I’ll adjust expectations accordingly. And just to give you some context in my experience since 2017, my average yearly return has generally been between 15% and 18%. I’m not counting the COVID year, though that was a once-in-a-decade kind of event, and it wouldn’t be fair to use that as a benchmark.
