᠅ Founder Tip: Never hire a developer before doing this You're excited. You’ve got an idea. You want to hire a dev and build the app. Stop. That’s how 90% of startup money vanishes. Here’s what to do before writing a single line of code: 1. Write a spec anyone can understand Forget technical lingo. Describe the core user flow in plain English. Ex: “User enters phone number → gets a list of tutors nearby → books a free trial.” 2. Sketch it out Use pen and paper, or a tool like Figma. Walk people through it. Does it make sense? Would they use it? 3. Validate with real people Show the mockup to 10 target users. Ask: “Would you use this today?” If 7+ say no, fix it first. 4. Find a no-code workaround Before you hire, see if you can simulate your product using Google Forms, Notion, or Zapier. Test demand first. 5. Get commitment, not just compliments “Nice idea” means nothing. Look for: pre-orders, email signups, demo requests. Something real. Once you’ve done this, then find a dev. And now you’ll know exactly what to build—no guesswork.

What’s your #1 marketing tip as an indie dev? For me: Reddit 👽 It brought solid traction but you’ve got to engage smart. Reddit can be brutal if you don’t play it right.
