TRAI has introduced a smart update to help you instantly identify the nature of any SMS you receive. Now, every SMS sender ID will end with a letter that shows the type of message: 🔸 P = Promotional 🔸 S = Service-related 🔸 T = Transactional 🔸 G = Government So if you earlier received messages from AD-ABCDEF, they’ll now appear as: 👉 AD-ABCDEF-P (for Promotional) But that’s not all... Ever wondered what the first two letters (like AD, VM, JD) actually mean? ✅ The first letter = Telecom operator (A = Airtel, J = Jio, V = Vodafone, etc.) ✅ The second letter = Region (D = Delhi, K = Karnataka, M = Mumbai, etc.) 🔍 Example: AX-PVRVIP-P = Airtel + Karnataka + PVR + Promotional SMS 💡 With this change, you can now quickly check: Who the sender is ✅ Which region it came from ✅ Why it was sent ✅ No more guessing. No more spam confusion. Smart SMS just got smarter. Why This Matters Quick Identification: You can now immediately tell whether an SMS is promotional spam, a bank update, a government alert, or something else. More Control: Prioritize or ignore messages based on what matters. Transparency: Helps reduce fraud and unwanted messages.
