Keeping API documentation updated is a challenge every backend team faces—especially with fast-moving services built on Node.js and Express.js. We streamlined this process by integrating ChatGPT into our documentation workflow. Using it to draft our OpenAPI (Swagger) specs helped us reduce manual errors and speed up documentation cycles. 🔹 AI-assisted drafting—ChatGPT helped us quickly scaffold endpoints, parameters, and responses for each RESTful route based on our existing architecture. 🔹 Validation with Postman—We validated the generated docs and endpoints using Postman to ensure they aligned with actual backend responses. 🔹 Faster iterations—The improved workflow cut hours of manual effort and kept our docs clean, readable, and in sync with the code. This approach saved hours of repetitive work and made collaboration between teams smoother with the confidence that the documentation stays in sync with the code. Smart tooling + smart practices = better developer experience. Have you tried combining AI with your dev tools for documentation? We’d love to hear your thoughts—drop your experiences or suggestions in the comments!
