The dark side of India’s startup boom | Corporate governance matters 🔍💡 India’s startup ecosystem is growing rapidly – but behind the glossy headlines and billion-dollar valuations, a harsh reality is unfolding. 🚀💸 In the race to become the next unicorn 🦄, most startups are sacrificing a crucial pillar: corporate governance. ⚖️ Recent revelations from formerly-famous startups like BluSmart, MedikaBazaar, Zilingo, BharatPe, and others highlight a frightening trend – misappropriation of funds, exaggerated revenues, governance lapses, and founder hubris. 😱📉 What’s worse? Most investors, blinded by pitch decks and market opportunities, ignore due diligence. 🙈💼 Growth without governance is a time bomb. ⏳💣 As founders, we need to build with integrity. 🏗️✨ As investors, we need to invest with responsibility. 💰🔍 And as an ecosystem, we need to prioritise ethics along with innovation. 🌱⚖️ Let's not chase unicorns. Let's build sustainable, responsible businesses. 🦄➡️🌍
