People often ask me how I started and managed my first startup in college when I was just 18 years old. This picture speaks a thousand words. It is 8 years old now. I knew practical knowledge will never come from books. Convinced my class mentor to give me leeway in attendance and then dedicated 3-4 hours of work everyday on the startup. We were publishing books. While most folks focused only on education, I made sure I don't fail and dedicated rest of my time to learning. I walked 10km+ everyday to the print house and worked from there. From marketing, typesetting, printing, packing, amazon and sales handling, sales- I did everything. Alone. No team, no co-founders. A lot of friends and juniors eventually joined and helped me out. Everyone told me to focus on placements but by the second year I was making way more than most students would get from good companies. The passion and excitement of building something of my own trumped the need for security and safety. This picture os from our second book while I was packing it for delivery. Picture was taken by Sidd Panda who was my first supporter/mentor. He had told me this picture will serve as a memento to my hustle. It sure did.
