Not Every Shark Tank Pitch Has a Happy Ending Aquapeya, a bottled water startup, appeared on Shark Tank India S4 and was doing ₹9 crore in sales with ₹60 lakh in profit. It also received investment from Namita Thapar and Ritesh Agarwal. However, the problem arose due to Peyush's comment about how they intentionally used packaging similar to Bisleri to attract buyers. Because of this, Bisleri filed a trademark and copyright infringement case against them on 20th Feb. The judgment came out on 5th March, which banned them from using similar branding, and all their existing products were seized. Also tbh they absolutely didn't need for them to come on Shark Tank. See Companies go on Shark Tank for: 1) Guidance 2) Funding 3) Marketing In this case, the first two reasons don’t apply. And Aquapeya didn’t need marketing because they operate in a shopkeeper-first market. That means consumers buy water only when they’re out and in that case, they can only buy whatever the shopkeeper sells (and shopkeepers sell copies because of high margins). And that’s how a good business got into trouble just because of high visibility. What do you think?
